Some people really know how to ruin the fun, huh?
A Treaty Oak Revival fan has gone absolutely viral on TikTok after posting a clip of his truck bed littered with trash and cans and with his back window smashed in. The 18-year-old, who’s garnered nearly a million views on the post, captioned the video, which later shows him being forced to clear the massive mess out, “all because I stayed sober at Treaty Oak.”
Like many other viewers, my jaw was on the floor when I saw the absolute monstrosity that was this poor fan’s truck parked outside Cincinnati’s Riverbend Music Center. Naturally, I immediately ran to the comments looking for some much-needed context. The fan who attended the band’s show this past Saturday, September 26, in Ohio, shared that he apparently picked the wrong crowd to park next to.
Replying to a comment asking for a “storytime,” the young man Cooper wrote, “I was told to park over in the truck parking. These kids waved me over and said I had to take a shot of their opened Don Julio bottle.” He continued, noting he denied the shot, and a guy from the group “proceeded to tell me I couldn’t park there. I then said, ‘ok man, whatever,’ and turned my truck off and took me and my gf into the show to get away from the group.”
When the unsuspecting couple came back to their truck after the show, he says they found, “my bed trashed and windows smashed in.” I, too, can’t believe how much this bizarre scenario sounds like it was ripped straight from the plot of one of those D.A.R.E. peer-pressure PSAs they used to show us in school.
Considering Cooper was A. underage, B. trying to avoid a post-concert DUI with his girlfriend in the passenger seat, and C. didn’t want to take a swig from a miscellaneous open container, I’d say he had every right to reject the drink. And contrary to what some may assume, despite Treaty Oak Revival’s rowdy music and infamous cup-throwing “Boomtown” concert tradition, the band itself isn’t exactly fueled by a heavy drinking culture.
In fact, lead singer Sam Canty has been very open about his sobriety journey and is coming up on four years alcohol-free this September. So needless to say, this kind of reckless behavior doesn’t exactly align with what the band stands for.
The fact that there are people cruel enough to trash a fellow fan’s truck simply because he offended them by refusing a drink is genuinely appalling. And while it can’t completely undo the frustration of the situation or fix the shattered back window, luckily, the comment section quickly rallied around him in support:
A few people also questioned the connection between Treaty Oak Revival shows and the rowdy, harmful behavior that keeps circulating online. Unfortunately for TOR, whose name continues to get dragged into the mess alongside these hooligans, I think part of it comes down to their rapidly growing younger fan base.
Not to mention, country concerts in general (and the pre-show tailgating culture that comes with them) seem to create the perfect environment for situations like this to get out of hand. Despite attempting to at least calm the crowd during “Boomtown” with a recent social media video, apparently not even the band’s PSA seems to be enough to stop the few little pieces of sh*t who insist on stirring up trouble.
C’mon guys, how hard is it really to just be a decent human being? With only a few shows left on their 2026 tour, hopefully everyone can collectively learn from these past few incidents and show a little decorum for once.
