I was just thinking to myself the other day…Man, it’s been a while since I’ve seen someone get absolutely obliterated with a miscellaneous object during “Boomtown” at a Treaky Oak concert.
Lo and behold, I woke up to a video on my TikTok for you page this morning of a folding chair getting slingshotted through the crowd at their most recent concert. Nice to see that some things never change.
The West Texas band took the stage on Sunday night, August 9, at Rock the Country in Hastings, Michigan, opening up right before Jason Aldean. Now, does an Aldean concert paired with Treaty Oak (and I forgot to mention Shenandoah was there too) sound like a peak lineup? Absolutely. However, am I glad I didn’t get a grade-three concussion by being smacked with a metal chair? Most definitely.
It’s safe to say I don’t have too much FOMO after watching this clip from @warrios_22 on TikTok, showcasing the iconic moment during every Treaty Oak concert where fans whip around their beer cans and cups during the band’s 2021 fan favorite, “Boomtown.” Except one genius decided to launch their folding camping chair (you know the kind of one your parents would bring to sit outside little league practice?)
The red chair, mind you, still unfolded in its full form, landed on the poor fan in front of him, smacking their phone trying to record the moment. The chair is promptly lifted off of the girl, and the person capturing the altercation proceeds to rotate their camera around to the background of the crowd, presumably to see where the chair launched from.
Luckily, those little folding chairs are pretty light, so I’m sure it didn’t cause too much damage to the individual, but can you imagine if it had landed any other way with those leg poles smacking someone’s eyeballs? Luckily, this is still not as bad as the time someone launched a full-blown trashcan from the top of an arena into the pit down below…good times.
While the moment is unfortunate for the poor girl who got thwapped with the chair, the comment section was filled with most people making the obvious Morgan Wallen jokes, calling out his 2024 Chiefs’ Bar incident:
Another clip from @t4yl0rn1c0le shows the chair landing on the poor unsuspecting girl, and she brushed off getting smacked in the head like a champ, continuing to record the show with a smile on her face. Someone needs to call the military recruiters asap because this girl’s got grit.
Unfortunately for fans hoping to risk head injuries, Treaty Oak has the next month off from performing on their 2026 West Texas Degenerate tour and won’t return to the stage until September 17 in Virginia Beach. Luckily, that gives everyone plenty of time to buy their protective helmets in advance and get their beer-slinging arms ready.
