Basically the same thing.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you should be well aware of the heinous charges brought against rapper, record producer and record executive, Sean Combs (better known by his stage name, Diddy). If you haven’t kept yourself in the loop, the 3x Grammy award winner is currently facing federal sex trafficking and racketeering charges.
Back in September, Diddy appeared in Manhattan federal court, and Attorney Damian Williams pleaded for more victims to come forward:
“As alleged in the Indictment, for years, Sean Combs used the business empire he controlled to sexually abuse and exploit women, as well as to commit other acts of violence and obstruction of justice. Today, he is charged with racketeering and sex trafficking offenses. If you have been a victim of Combs’ alleged abuse – or if you know anything about his alleged crimes – we urge you to come forward. This investigation is far from over.”
With that said, absolutely no one wants anything to do with Diddy at this point. Even legendary country music duo, Brooks & Dunn.
Back in 2005, Ronnie Dunn and Kix Brooks released “Play Something Country,” the duo’s 20th and final No. 1 hit at country radio. During the first verse, Ronnie belts “Yeah, the band took a break, the DJ played P. Diddy / She said, I didn’t come here to hear something thumpin’ from the city.”
Well…during a recent concert in Arizona, the duo changed the lyrics to “the band took a break, the DJ played something sh*tty,” garnering a handful of positive reactions from the internet.
The new version of “Play Something Country” with Lainey Wilson keeps the original “Diddy” reference in the lyrics and is featured on the duo’s upcoming record, “Reboot II.” The album will also feature new versions of songs such as “Neon Moon,” “Boot Scootin’ Boogie,” and more, with contributions from Morgan Wallen, Marcus King Band, Megan Moroney, Warren Zeiders, Jelly Roll, Riley Green, The Cadillac Three, Halestorm, Mitchell Tenpenny, The Earls of Leicester, Jake Worthington, Hailey Whitters, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, HARDY, ERNEST, A Thousand Horses and Corey Kent.
