There are plenty of great ways to celebrate the Fourth of July, but it’s pretty hard to beat the 1000 people who spent the day watching Ella Langley perform an acoustic set in Maui.
This past weekend, the rising female star took a step away from playing on massive stages around the country while on tour with both Riley Green, Morgan Wallen, along with headlining her own shows, as well as a number of festivals. There’s no doubt that Langley has skyrocketed to a household name over the past couple of years. Just yesterday, she scored her first-ever solo #1 hit at country radio with her single, “Weren’t For The Wind” off of her 2024 album, still hungover. With her prominence in country music continuing to grow, for her to perform such a low-key show is quite the rarity.
Langley headlined The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua’s Maui Songwriters Festival Summer Series, offering fans an incredibly intimate experience. The evening kicked off with Hawaii-born R&B singer, Kaia Soul, as the opener at 6:30 p.m. before Langley took the stage at 7:30 p.m.
For those lucky enough to be on the island, it was an incredibly unique experience with Langley not only playing some of her hits acoustically but also gracing the audience with a few covers. A clip on TikTok from @alegrmz shows her strumming Fleetwood Mac’s hit, “Dreams,” and the ambiance is just incredible. She truly looks like she’s in her element with a long tropical maxi dress on and leis adorning her mic stand.
Probably the best part of the performance, though, is her side commentary while singing. In hilarious and raw Langley fashion after singing the lyrics “Players only love you when they’re playing” she proclaims “Ain’t that the damn truth.”
She also brought out her trusty tambourine for a very fitting cover of John Cruz’s “Island Style.”
Probably the craziest part of this all is that general admission tickets were only $59, and VIP seating was an insane $89. As Langley continues to grow bigger and bigger, this type of bargain is pretty much certain to become an impossible snag.
It appears Langley kept those island vibes going throughout the rest of the holiday weekend, given her most recent TikTok shows her dancing around on a hotel balcony to her latest cover release for Apple Music’s Toby Keith tribute, “Wish I Didn’t Know.” The track has since become such a fan favorite off the six-song tribute playlist that it has non-Apple Music users going back to the ‘olden days’ way of buying songs off of iTunes just to listen.
Following her much-needed vacation and this past weekend of magical Hawaiian performances, Langley is back on the road, continuing her numerous upcoming tour dates as well as continuing to work on her third album, rumored to be released in 2026. While the 26-year-old is sure to put on a spectacular show on any stage, I’m not sure a resort in Maui can be topped. Then again, if anyone can outdo it, it’s Ella Langley.
