    Old Aldean is SO back.

As if Jason Aldean’s discography couldn’t get any better, he just teased fans with a performance of the intro track from his new album, Songs About Us. At his show last Friday night, January 16, Aldean graced the fans of Tupelo, Mississippi, with a sneak peek of “Anytime Soon,” which is set to drop alongside his upcoming album on April 24th.

So far, seven of the twenty songs from the tracklist have already been released, including his first-ever duet with his wife, Brittany Aldean, “Easier Gone.” Many fans have been calling this new project a revival of his old sound, and “Anytime Soon” adds to that anticipation.

Written by Kurt Allison, John Edwards, Tully Kennedy, and John Morgan, the lyrics follow the relatable plot line of trying to get over someone. What better way to do that, according to Aldean and the writers, than by ordering up a few more rounds. The chorus sings, “One goes ’round, two light up. Three in the midnight smoke don’t get me close enough. To gettin’ over you, I can’t even start.”

As the kick-off to this album, this electric-guitar-laced track is reminiscent of more upbeat, thumping tracks like previously released “What’s A Little Heartache.” Which is another extremely catchy melody about the intoxicating effects of a love interest. Call it cliche but any Aldean song about drinking away the sorrows is inevitably bound to be a hit.

According to Aldean’s Instagram, this project, which will mark his 12th studio album, is a collection of “The highs, the lows, and everything in between.” While many songs touch on the typical topics of heartbreak and love, Aldean also displays a vulnerable lens into his life with “Help You Remember.” The song details his personal experience of witnessing family members go through dementia. There’s also some genuine throwbacks like what appears to be a remastered recording of “Dust on the Bottle” with David Lee Murphy and, of course, the title track, “Songs About Us” sung alongside another 2010’s country staple, Luke Bryan.
