Give us the country album already, Kelly.
At this point, it’s pretty common knowledge that Kelly Clarkson can out-sing almost anyone on their own song, and with multiple features on country tracks such as Jason Aldean’s “Don’t You Wanna Stay,” as well as performing dozen’s of country covers on her daytime talk-show, a country album is way past due from the season 1 American Idol winner.
This past week, Kelly paid tribute to legendary duo, Brooks & Dunn, with a phenomenal performance of their 1994 hit, “She’s Not the Cheatin’ Kind.”
Written solely by Ronnie Dunn, the track was released as the first single off their third studio album, “Waitin’ on Sundown.” While it can often get overlooked behind some of their other massive hits such as “Neon Moon,” “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” or “Red Dirt Road, make no mistake – “She’s Not the Cheatin’ Kind” is one of the best songs in the duo’s entire discography.
It later went No. 1 on Billboard’s Canada Country Tracks chart, as well as the Hot Country Singles & Tracks (now known as the Hot Country Songs chart). The music video was directed by Piers Plowden and premiered in mid-1994.
