A night to remember for Patriots fans.
Last night, Gillette Stadium hosted it’s first-ever induction ceremony for New England legend, and the greatest quarterback of all time, Tom Brady.
While there were quite a few memorable moments during the ceremony, perhaps the most significant was the No. 12 jersey being retired and Brady’s speech acknowledging the ongoing debate of who is responsible for the Patriots dynasty, Tom Brady or coach Bill Belichick?
While we all know Tom Brady went on to win another Super Bowl with the Bucs and Bruce Arians at 43 years-old, the GOAT had this to say to his former head coach:
“To Coach Belichick, thank you for your tireless commitment to develop and push me to be my very best. It wasn’t me, it wasn’t you, it was us. Our hard work, our love of the game and the way we worked for one another, that’s what it was all about. Let me make this crystal clear: There is no coach in the world I would rather play for than Bill Belichick.”
And if you tuned in as a country music fan, there was also another special highlight as Kenny Chesney made a surprise appearance to perform his 2010 high-school football anthem, “The Boys of Fall.“
Holding his acoustic guitar in front of a back-drop featuring Patriots highlights that included Brady, Gronkowski’s signature football spike, and more, Kenny belted the lyrics:
“It’s knocking heads and talking trash
It’s slinging mud and dirt and grass
It’s I got your number, I got your back when your back’s against the wall
You mess with one man you got us all
The boys of fall“
