Honky tonkin’ with the man himself.
Over the weekend, on Saturday night (October 10), Zach Top hit the stage in St. Paul, Minnesota, etching himself one step closer to the end of his fan-favorite 2026 Cold Beer & Country Music Tour. Wrapping up on October 30 in Nashville, TN, with just five more dates left on his roster until then, I’d say it was about time that he brought out his ’90s icon tour opener, Marty Stuart.
The “Way Out West” singer and his fabulous superlatives recently joined Top for the latter portion of the tour, and knowing Top’s affinity for a jukebox staple, of course he had to enlist Stuart to help him sing one of his hits. During his set at the Grand Casino Arena, Stuart rejoined the stage for his 1996 single, “Honky Tonkin’s What I Do Best.”
The track, later sharing the same title as his ninth studio album, also happens to feature Travis Tritt, making it the perfect built-in duet for the generational spanning duo. And by the looks of Top jamming out on an acoustic guitar beside Stuart, perfectly blending their voices on the chorus, it looked like a pretty d*mn fun performance.
Might I just add, the fact that no one’s enlisted Top yet for some sort of country classic reboot album is beyond me. As for Stuart and his fabulous superlatives, they will rejoin Top this weekend, opening for him on his stops lined up in South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Michigan.
Considering this tour has also given us incredible covers of John Anderson’s “Seminole Wind,” Dolly Parton’s “Here You Come Again,” “Pancho and Lefty” alongside Stephen Wilson Jr., and more, I’m already mourning the day these performance videos stop popping up on my feed.
