Collecting features like nobody’s business.
Though it feels like we all knew this was coming for what seems like a year, a Luke Combs and Post Malone collaboration is officially on the horizon.
Just minutes ago, Combs took to Instagram to share a teaser of their brand new song, seemingly titled “Guy For That,” off of Post’s upcoming country album, F 1-Trillion, which is slated for an August 16th release date. In the caption, Combs said, “We doin’ this or what, @postmalone?”
“Guy For That” was teased all the way back in February by Post on Instagram before he made his full-fledged dive into country music. Two singles, an ACM Awards performance and a CMT Fest appearance later, it seems like the song is finally about to be released.
Combs now joins the likes of Morgan Wallen, Blake Shelton and Chris Stapleton as confirmed features on F-1 Trillion, but judging by Post’s frequency of collaborating on his past albums and his appearances with the likes of Lainey Wilson, Billy Strings and Brad Paisley, I wouldn’t be surprised if we get even more artists included on the new record.
The track feels similar to the Shelton collaboration, “Pour Me A Drink,” with a fairly modern country sound that has a heavy inclusion of electric guitar coupled with some nice fiddle throughout. However, as I’ve said countless times before while covering Post’s venture into the country genre, I would expect this album to cover a lot of ground musically speaking.
It’s been well-documented that he likes to explore a multitude of different sounds within albums such as Hollywood’s Bleeding where he delivered traditional rap, pop, alternative and even metal tracks on the album. Judging by the different production choices on “I Had Some Help,” “Pour Me A Drink,” “Never Love You Again” which was performed at the ACM Awards and this collaboration with Stapleton, we’re in for a diverse record.
As of now, “Guy For That” does not have an official release date.
