We need a studio version of this immediately.
Back in 2020, Chris Stapleton and his wife, Morgane, stopped by the Bobby Bones show and performed a cover of Lee Ann Womack’s signature hit song from the year 2000, “I Hope You Dance.”
Written by Mark Sanders and Tia Sillers, the 2x platinum certified song featured harmonies from Sons Of The Desert and is still the only No. 1 both artists have had in their careers to this day.
I Hope You Dance went on to win Single Of The Year at both the 2001 CMA Awards and ACM’s, as well as a Grammy for Best Country Song. And let’s face it, if you’re anything like me, we grew up hearing our moms play this song countless times.
In an interview with The Today Show, Womack had this to say:
“You can’t hear those lyrics and not think about children and hope for the future and things you want for them. And those are the things I want for them in life. I want them to feel small when they stand beside the ocean.”
Now, que in Chris Stapleton. Not only does anything that Chris touches turn to gold, but him and his wife also make a great, underrated duo when they sing together.
The Radiothon performance was to raise money for the kids of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and also featured other artists such as Luke Combs and Sam Hunt.
