Texas has yet again blessed country music with another rising star: Hudson Westbrook. The fresh face in country music quickly gained popularity after a video of him singing his first hit, “Take It Slow,” went viral on TikTok back in April of last year. The song now boasts over 12 million streams on Spotify.
Today, Friday, January 24, he dropped his latest single, “Mine Tomorrow.” The song is surely the first of many to come following the release of his self-titled debut EP back in November. It includes previously released hits like “5 to 9” and “Johnny Walker,” along with new songs such as “Pray Your Name” and “Take Your Time.”
Westbrook didn’t waste any time after the EP before he was back in the studio working on this most recent release. He first teased “Mine Tomorrow” in mid-December on social media with the caption, “It’d be a shame if I released something new.” The snippet quickly gained traction from fans, racking up over 17.1K videos on TikTok using the sound.
The heartfelt ballad, co-written by Westbrook, Ryan Beaver, and Dan Alley, is a melodic declaration of love that tells the story of finding hope and solace in a new relationship. Westbrook described the track as, “If loving her to infinity was a song.” This theme shines through in the chorus with lyrics like, “As long as you’re mine tomorrow, All my today’s belong to you.” The combination of its slow dance melody, a violin that tugs at the heartstrings, and Westbrooks’ youthful twang makes it sound like it’s straight out of a butterfly-inducing rom-com scene.
It’s hard to believe that just a year and a half ago the rising star was starting out his freshman year at Texas Tech University. Luckily for fans, he dropped out to pursue music full-time–a decision that’s clearly paying off. This year is bound to be an exciting one for Westbrook as he continues to head out on his headlining, Take Your Time Tour. He’s also set to join Parker McCollum for three shows on the upcoming, What Kinda Man Tour and will be attending a few festivals throughout the year.
With charming hits like “Mine Tomorrow,” it’s only a matter of time before Hudson Westbrook is a household name.
