The dynamic duo of Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton will never not be iconic.
Not only are these two pillars of 2010’s country but they also share one of the funniest and sassiest friendships in the industry. The two have long been known for their playful jabs at each other and their constant, lighthearted “beef.”
Recently, Luke Bryan took to Instagram to share a hilarious story about his apparent doppelganger—none other than Blake Shelton.
Filming from his fishing boat alongside his son Tate, Bryan sets the scene for the story, explaining that the two stopped at a gas station for snacks before their trip—basically where all crazy stories begin.
Bryan recalls a large, tattooed man staring him up and down, which led him to believe the man recognized him and would say something. But to his surprise, the man instead said, “You look just like Blake Shelton… you’re not Blake Shelton, are you? You gotta get that all the time.”
Being the good-natured guy he is, Bryan doesn’t correct him and plays along as the man continues, “You’re his doppelganger” and “You know who is right, he’s on that TV show.”
I mean undeniably the two share many similarities so you’ve got to wonder if he knew who Luke was all along but got the two’s names mixed up. They’re both country singers, both have dark brown hair and beards, both are a little goofy, and both are on singing competition shows. Can ya really blame the guy for confusing the two?
The funniest part of the encounter comes when the man wraps up the conversation by saying, “Could you imagine what it would be like to have Blake Shelton’s money?”. Bryan lets out a hearty cackle that could only come from a man who knows what that level of wealth feels like.
You just know Bryan probably immediately Facetimed Shelton to relay the story before posting the video on Instagram with the caption, “Identity theft is not a joke.”
While the gas station man may cringe if he sees the viral video, I have to thank him for providing an entertaining fan exchange. And props to Bryan for just rolling with it and not setting the record straight! Watch here:
