Fresh off their first-ever ACM Nomination for Best New Duo/Group along with their late-night television debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Treaty Oak Revival has announced that their long-awaited acoustic album is finished and officially releasing on Friday, May 23rd.
In case you missed it, Treaty Oak took to Twitter back in February to ask fans if they’d like a six-song acoustic EP featuring tracks from both No Vacancy and Have A Nice Day. Unsurprisingly, fans have been clamoring for its release due to the major traction the Texas band has gained in the alt. country scene over the past year.
Yesterday, they added more fuel to the fire surrounding this acoustic release, asking their followers if they were ready for it after going silent on the project for the past three months:
And now, just minutes ago, Treaty Oak took to Instagram to announce they decided to double down on the idea of an acoustic project. Instead of the initial six songs, the album, titled The Talco Tapes, will feature 9 songs — four from their debut album, No Vacancy, four from Have A Nice Day and one cover.
In the caption, the band explained that they were inspired to record a full acoustic album due to the overwhelming support received from their 2022 appearance on PBS’ Main Street Unplugged session, “We tossed around the idea of doing an acoustic record for a long time-it was always one of those projects we knew we’d get to eventually and it’s truly a passion project. Ever since our ‘PBS Unplugged’ session hit YouTube, y’all have been asking for more of that stripped-down vibe. We wanted to record it live in the studio, have a camera crew out and capture really beautiful videos of the songs along with the ‘fly on the wall’ stuff from in between takes. That’s when the idea turned into more than just an album—it became a film. We recorded everything live, no autotune, no overdubs, just us in a room playing our hearts out. It’s raw, it’s real, and it’s a thank-you to the fans.”
In addition to the album, a full video from the recording session will also be available on YouTube the same day. For Treaty Oak, they noted how they wanted fans to be able to experience how exactly their favorite tracks came to life in the studio:
“The album drops May 23rd on all the streaming platforms, but that’s really just the soundtrack. The full video premiere is going up on YouTube the same day, and that’s where the real magic is-seeing it all happen live, feeling the room, catching the little moments between takes. It’s a new way to hear some of our favorite tracks, and a chance to show that this band isn’t just loud guitars and big drums-we can reshape these songs into something totally different when we strip it all back. We’re super proud of how it turned out, and we can’t wait for everyone to experience it.”
