After dipping his toes into the country music realm with ventures featuring Jelly Roll (Hard Fought Hallelujah) and Cody Johnson (When A Cowboy Prays), Brandon Lake unofficially announced a full country music worship crossover project to come.

First teased back in February, the Christian artist gave a glimpse into his five-day writers’ retreat, where he invited some of his closest friends and country artists to produce over 43 songs. So far from that week that featured the likes of HARDY, Thomas Rhett, Russell Dickerson, Dan+Shay, and more, the first track to be released from the loot was Lake’s recent collaboration with Bailey Zimmerman, “Just Believe.”

The March 13 release was just the start for the Texas native, who has now given a sneak peek into the next collaboration to come with none other than two-time CMA Entertainer of the Year award winner, Lainey Wilson. Tuesday afternoon, March 24, Lake shared a clip to social media of the two goofing around in the studio, including Lake riffing a country-ified version of the piano classic, “Heart and Soul.”

Lake also posted a grainy snippet of the ACTUAL track on his Instagram story with astounding support from everyone in the studio, echoing how great it sounds, including Wilson chiming in, “It’s so good, right?” The track appears to be Lake’s previously teased co-written song, “The Jesus I Know.”

In November 2025, Lake revealed in an acoustic solo rendition on social media, “Been loving this new one I wrote with @laineywilson @emilyweisband @lukerobert after talking about people’s experience getting taught a different Jesus than one we know now.” He also gave fans an early listen at his show last Saturday night, March 21, in Baltimore.

The track itself is a heartfelt, vulnerable ballad, which reflects on the growing relationship with the Lord as one matures and comes to know him as an accepting God rather than a judgmental one. While no official release date has been announced yet, as Easter Sunday quickly approaches in two weeks, the timing would make for a perfect release.
