In a true full-circle moment, Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan returned to their home state for a one-of-a-kind historic show at Sanford Stadium last night.
The concert marked just the second time the University of Georgia venue has ever hosted a live performance, with the first being back in 2013 on Aldean’s Night Train tour, which also featured Bryan as the opener. Thirteen years later, the country stars and long-time friends reunited for an insanely unforgettable night with quite a few surprises.
Following sets from openers Lauren Alaina and Zach Top, Aldean and Bryan kicked off their dynamic duo showcase with a playful intro skit debating who would kick off the show. Of course, it was only fitting that for a momentous night like this, they decided to share the spotlight, joining forces for the opening songs, trading off sets, and reuniting throughout the night for a few songs together, including Bryan’s “Drink A Beer” and their 2024 remastered Shenandoah track, “Sunday In The South.”
With this show also highlighting Aldean’s first return to the stage after the Friday, April 24 release of his twelfth studio album, Songs About Us, it only made sense that the two gave the crowd a live rendition of the title track featuring Bryan. The “Drunk On You” singer hilariously prefaced the audience before the inaugural performance, saying, “I think y’all need to like put this on your TikTok and sh**, your Instagram, your OnlyFans… put this on your OnlyFans!”
Aldean also shared beforehand that he already had the song lined up for his album and saw it as the perfect opportunity to bring his fellow Georgia native onto the track. “I kind of got to thinking about all the artists that we grew up listening to, people like Alabama, George Strait, Ronnie Milsap.”
Following a short interjection of Bryan jokingly singing a few little snippets of the iconic country classics, Aldean continued, “So I got to thinking about how all those other artists’ their songs have kinda been the soundtrack to our lives and our childhood, and over the last 20 years me and this guy have a pretty career in the country music business and over the last 20 years our songs have probably been the soundtracks to a lot of you guys lives out their, too. So as soon as I heard this song, I brought him in on it.“
The Live Between the Hedges performance was easily one of the night’s standout highlights, second only to Bryan somehow convincing Aldean to join him for his 2011 party anthem “Country Girl (Shake It For Me).” While, unfortunately, the two Georgia boys don’t currently have any plans to run back their double show anytime soon, both Aldean and Bryan will return to the road soon on their respective summer tours.
Bryan will kickstart his 2026 Word On The Street Tour on May 29 in Gilford, NH, rounding things out on September 26 in East Troy, Wyoming. Aldean will also continue to celebrate his brand new 20-track project with his coinciding Songs About Us Tour, starting July 16 in Bangor, Maine.
