Taking a page from Lainey Wilson’s playbook, Chris Stapleton had his own sort of “Cowgirl of the Night” moment at his Charlotte, North Carolina, show over the weekend.
Both country music stars have been out on the road together these past few weeks, with Wilson opening up for a few shows on Stapleton’s 2026 All-American Road Show Tour. Usually, the recently married Mrs. Wilson-Hodges will bring up a little girl from the crowd during her concerts and crown her with her wide-brimmed hat as the “Cowgirl of the Night.”
This time around, during Saturday night’s June 20 concert at the Bank of America Stadium, Stapleton decided to follow suit, inviting a very lucky little girl, Fiona, from the audience up on stage to sing his 2015 hit, “Parachute.” While, insanely enough, the track off of his debut album Traveler is older than the 9-year-old fan, she wholeheartedly crushed the stadium-wide performance with some surefire confidence for her age.
Performing to over 75,000 fans, Stapleton started off the acoustic rendition with his aspiring duet partner joining in confidently. Impressively belting every lyric word-for-word, staring up at Stapleton, the two harmonized in the most precious crowd-stealing moment.
The girl’s mom clarified in a comment underneath the now viral clip on TikTok, “We were in the pit in the front right at the center of the stage, and she made a poster asking to sing with him and brought her up!” The mother also saw sobbing during the video on the stage’s big screen later in the performance, further exclaimed, “We are so freaking beyond proud of her! She is only 9 years old and did so great!”

What a way to kick off summer vacation with an unforgettable on-stage duet alongside one of country music’s biggest names. Miss Fiona’s mom, @jbkelley627, also posted her own recap video from the memory of the whole performance, including a thank-you shout-out from the very gracious fan who told her idol, “It was such an amazing and fun experience that I’ll never forget.”
As for the 12-time Grammy Award winner, he’ll return to the stage this Wednesday, June 24, in Hershey, PA, as he continues out on his summer of touring, joined by the likes of Grace Potter, Zach Top, Carter Faith, Molly Tuttle, and more.
