By now, it should be a well-known fact that when you see a video of Kenny Whitmire sitting in his backyard with an acoustic guitar in his hand, he’s about to mesmerize you.
Insanely enough, it’s been nearly a year since he set that precedent with his insanely viral original song, “I Gave Her The Moon.” Whitmire’s stripped-down classic country ballad caught the attention of over 1.6M people on TikTok alone including none other than Luke Combs, Tracy Lawrence, Avery Anna, oh and of course, Charlie Puth.
The latter pop singer used his platform to boost the song to a whole other level, not only spreading it to a wider audience but also putting his musical prowess to good use and putting studio-level production on the track. Fast forward to today, and Whitmire has amassed well over 2M streams on Spotify alone on the official song released this past February.
Since then, he’s also released a few other heaters, including the most recent “Woman To Blame” and his first album, Fool In A King Size Bed. And as of today, I’m petitioning for him to get his butt back in the studio and record an official version of his cover of Bruno Mars’ “When I Was Your Man.”
Whitmire put his spin on the hit, once again returning to the comfort of his back porch, letting his raw vocals stun on the staple 2012 hit. Coining himself as the new “Billy Mars,” it’s safe to say the rest of the internet agrees his version has something special about it:

Who knew Bruno was out here writing certified country bangers all along? As for Whitmire, he’s currently out on the road alongside Hudson Westbrook for his 2026 Hits Me Tour.
