With both Cody Johnson and Parker McCollum sacrificing a little of their hunting season to perform across the UK and Ireland throughout late October and into November, it was only a matter of time before their overseas tour fueled some epic onstage collaborations.
Johnson, a 2026 CMA Entertainer of the Year nominee, kicked off his international run this past Saturday (October 24), bringing fellow Texas native McCollum along for the six-show stretch. Last night, the two continued their mission of bringing some d*mn good country music across the pond, taking the stage at London’s iconic O2 Arena.
Luckily for fans in attendance, they were in for quite the treat, getting to witness the two finally bring their fan-favorite rendition of “Good Time Charlie’s Got The Blues” to life onstage. Originally written and made famous by Danny O’Keefe in 1972, according to McCollum, the track has long been one he wanted to hear Johnson sing. So, while recording his self-titled fifth studio album, the gold chain cowboy came up with a pretty clever plan to record his own version of the song, reach out to Cody about joining him, and turn that vision into reality.
Lo and behold, they released their first official collaboration together back in June 2025, garnering over 3 million streams on Spotify alone. After opening the show as Johnson’s supporting act, McCollum returned to the stage later in the night, exchanging a high-five with his duet partner before the two jumped right into the performance.
Johnson hilariously declared to the crowd, “That’s called country music,” before McCollum introduced his duet partner’s second half of the song, shouting, “Cody Johnson in the O2 in London, y’all.” And apparently, we have @marissaastacy on TikTok to thank for helping make the moment happen.
During the tour’s opening night in Manchester, the fan held up a message on her phone requesting the duet, catching Johnson’s attention while he was in the middle of a song. Sure enough, Johnson took the suggestion to heart and delivered on her request in London.
Hopefully, this won’t be the last time we see these two Texas boys bring their undeniable chemistry to the stage with McCollum, along with Emily Ann Roberts, set to join Johnson once again this Sunday at Birmingham’s Utilita Arena.
