Just a different kinda country.
Country artist Jon Langston took to social media recently to share what inspired his new song, “Ain’t No Cowboy.” He’s certainly not the first to write a song about a girl he met at a bar, but this story is actually a pretty good one.
Langston recalls his first time playing a show in Texas, where he met a girl who asked “where’s your cowboy hat at?” “I ain’t no cowboy, sorry,” he replied, telling her “I’m just a different kind of country I guess.”
In his new song, Jon Langston explains how he’s not the ropin’ and ridin’ type of cowboy, but still country in his own right. The Georgia-native describes his kind of country in the chorus: “I’m a different kinda country / Plowin’ fields and pushin’ dirt / No, I ain’t got ranching money / But I sure know how to work.”
“
Ain’t No Cowboy” is the fifth single from Jon Langston in just under a year. He co-wrote it with singer-songwriter Jordan Gray and guitarist Brad Wagner, the same team who came together to write his 2022 track “Give You My All.” Gray and Langston collaborated again on “Howdy, Howdy, Howdy,” the “fun, honky-tonk barn burner” released earlier this year.
While Jon Langston has yet to drop a full-length record, he revealed a lot of new music is coming in response to a fan’s Tweet last week.
With the success of his recent releases and his headlining “Let’s Get Rowdy” Tour coming to a close, an album announcement has to be right around the corner. (Pure speculation, but I doubt I’m wrong.)
