All publicity is good publicity, right?
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you should be fully aware of the (now dropped) charges against Chris Young after he was arrested at a bar in downtown Nashville last month.
Long story short, Chris had allegedly struck one of Tennessee’s ABC officers on the shoulder after a compliance check inside Tin Roof off Demonbreun St. According to the affidavit, the agent pushed Young “to create distance” after being “struck,” leading to a hostile situation for all parties just tryin’ to catch a buzz. Chris was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and assaulting an officer.
Security footage later revealed that Chris didn’t actually appear to be acting hostile. The 38 year-old singer apparently put his arm out to ask the officer why a picture was taken of his ID, and was forcefully shoved down to the ground.
Chris then posted another video showing the altercation from a different angle, telling the public and internet trolls to leave him alone:
“For all the trolls saying ‘don’t touch a cop,’ I didn’t touch him.”
With his new album, “Young Love & Saturday Nights,” set to drop next month, Chris decided to capitalize on the media headlines and released another track off the 18-song record the following Friday:
“Thank y’all for all your love and support this past week. It’s meant the world to me. As a thank you, I’m dropping a new song called “Double Down” tonight at midnight!”
Well, it appears Chris has plans to capitalize even further (can you blame him?) or at least have some fun with the entire situation. During a recent sit-down with Audacy’s Rob + Holly, Chris joked about the arrest:
“I didn’t do anything wrong, now it’s just funny that I have a mugshot. If you don’t think I’ve already started making t-shirts for this, back-up, c’mon, I’m absolutely doing that.”
As he should. We’ll letchya know when they’re available to purchase. Sheeit, I’ll probably buy one too. His new album “Young Love & Saturday Nights” drops on March 22nd. Check out the title track here:
