The “Tejano Punk Boyz” are racking up the accolades with this latest addition to their trophy case.
The alt-rock band from Stephenville, Texas, signed to the country mega-label Warner Music Nashville, is one of the hottest things in all of Rock n’ Roll. Tonight the world was once again put on notice when they were crowned the Best New Alternative/Rock Artist at the iHeartRadio Music Awards and I, as their self-proclaimed biggest fan, could not be more excited.
Last year showed signs of their impending success when their hit single Ramón Ayala became their first #1 song on Billboard’s Hot Rock and Alternative charts. Ramón Ayala was the first single off their upcoming album Tejano Punk Boyz, which was released in October and has since amassed over 25 MILLION streams.
Though I’ve been a fan for years I first had the pleasure of working with front-man Giovannie Yanez in an interview last year just one week before they earned their first #1 hit (coincidence?) – I have since seen the band live three times and along the way found myself able to call them friends. I couldn’t be more proud of how far they’ve come, I couldn’t be happier to say “I told y’all so,” and I couldn’t be more excited to see how much further they’ll go. I truly believe that the sky is the limit and I highly suggest that everyone joins me on the bandwagon while there’s still room.
