After imfamously going empty-handed earlier this year at the 59th annual Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards after leading the way six nominations, Morgan Wallen will have the opportunity to bring home some hardware this fall, leading in the newly-revealed Country Music Association (CMA) Awards nominations.
This morning, the entire CMA Award nominations were revealed, and Wallen received the most nominations with seven separate entries including Entertainer, Single and Song of the Year.
- Entertainer of the Year
- Single of the Year (“I Had Some Help”)
- Song of the Year (“I Had Some Help”)
- Male Vocalist of the Year
- Musical Event of the Year (“I Had Some Help”)
- Musical Event of the Year (“Man Made a Bar”)
- Musical Video of the Year (“I Had Some Help”)
Though it should come as no surprise given that the “Last Night” singer has seemingly broken records every other week over the past year, scoring his second straight Billboard Song of the Summer with “I Had Some Help,” breaking the record for highest-attended U.K. country concert and beating out the likes of Drake and Taylor Swift for most awards at the Billboard Music Awards this past November, Wallen has received little love awards-wise at the ACMs and CMAs.
The aforemtioned zero wins at the 59th CMA Awards this past May caused quite the controversy among fans of the Tennessee native. Though nothing is guaranteed, it’s hard to imagine Wallen not walking home with at least one award given the mammoth success of “I Had Some Help” coupled with his One Night at a Time tour.
The CMA Awards will air live on ABC at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee at 7 p.m. CT on November 20.
