Sometimes comedy just writes itself.
Fans at Jelly Roll’s final concert for the foreseeable future were in for a bit of a unique set design choice at the Colorado Springs show. Last Thursday night, July 30, many concertgoers with seats behind the pit were shocked to see a row of bright purple porta-potties lined up right in front of the stage.
A concertgoer told KRDO13 news that she and her friend were stunned by the fact that their $170-each tickets included a view of the bathrooms: “I thought, we paid all this money, and you can’t even see the stage.” Paying $170 alone for a Jelly Roll concert should’ve been the real issue here, but I digress.
While there was still a massive screen spotlighting the “Hands Up” singer on stage, I still can’t help but wonder who in their right mind thought this was a good idea in the first place. There’s nothing like having every single one of your concert videos feature some beautiful purple porta potties in every shot.
I, too, couldn’t help but chuckle at the absolute absurdity of the headline following Jelly Roll’s announcement that the show would be his last for “a year or two” as he plans to “take some time off and heal.” With the recent news of his very public divorce from his ex-wife Bunnie XO, and having to perform for a lineup of crappers all night, I totally get the decision.
Luckily, the internet did not disappoint with hundreds of users on Facebook lighting up the comment section of the story with some pretty hilarious remarks. I don’t know what’s funnier, the all-too-obvious Jelly Roll jokes you can make or the imagery of taking a sh*t front row at a concert?
