While his son is dominating stadiums across the country and continuing to reign on the charts, Tommy Wallen is delivering the word of God every Sunday in church— and now on SiriusXM.
The father of RIAA’s highest certified country artist of all time, Morgan Wallen, has been a pastor, working closely with prison and jail ministries for over a decade. Officially ordained back in 1995, just a couple of years after the birth of his country superstar son, Tommy was called to the ministry after years of struggling with alcohol and drug addiction.
Now, the Sneedville Baptist pastor has the opportunity to spread his testimony on a widespread scale with his recently introduced Tommy’s Sunday Seven show on Morgan Wallen’s SiriusXM radio. The short, beginner’s-friendly faith-based series kicked off this past Father’s Day, with Tommy sharing his own story and laying the groundwork for the series in his first episode.
Continuing to delve into the beginning book of where everything started, Genesis, Tommy explored the connections of Genesis 1:2 in his latest fourth installment from last Sunday, July 12. Tying this week’s message into the previously discussed verses from last week, 1 Corinthians 9-15, this time around, Tommy aimed to help explain the significance of the Spirit of God, the word of God, and their intertwined relationship.
Throughout all of his mini-sermons, Tommy is an avid user of the word of God, surrounding most of his message around a number of verses throughout the Bible as the main supporting evidence. This time around, he uses Deuteronomy 32:11 as an example of the important idea that “His spirit is the evidence of his working even though we cannot see him.”
Mainly this week, he hopes that his listeners will be able to see the necessity of reading the bible, “the word of God is what the spirit of God uses to show us our separation from God because of our sinful state compared to God’s holiness and what has to be done to reconcile this relationship.” Adding that there’s always pushback to this idea, “That’s why there’s such an attempt to discredit the bible.”
Tommy asks the main question he hopes to help answer throughout the rest of his sermon, “We are left with a choice, what are we gonna believe?” To explore the rest of his message and why he believes studying the word of God is key, check out the full episode streaming now on the SiriusXM App.
On Wallen’s Channel 64, you can also listen to Tommy’s previous installments and this Sunday’s upcoming show, which will air live at 9 am, 11 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm ET on the app and in car radios. Wallen’s radio also features Tommy’s other show, Family Tradition, where the father of four dives into behind-the-scenes stories of their home life and childhood.
