For everyone still mourning the fact that Morgan Wallen never played his 2021 hit, “865,” as the surprise song on tour this year, I’ve got something that’ll hopefully help scratch that itch.
While it may not be a massive stadium filled with thousands of screaming fans, newcomer Abigail Mae covered the Dangerous album staple straight from her shower, and it’s pretty incredible. The Georgia native took a spin at the track, posting a clip of her singing it last night, and her raspy vocals, mixed with the stripped-down acoustics of her baby-blue guitar, make for the perfect rugged lullaby.
With over 41K followers on TikTok and only roughly 2600 monthly listeners on Spotify, you may recognize the underrated aspiring singer bringing that same gravelly tone to her 2025 viral cover of Hank Williams Jr.’s “The Blues Man.” The mesmerizing soulsy cover from last October now has over 170.5K views, but now it’s time we bring a little attention to her cover of “865.”
With fans coining her the “female Wallen,” other users in the comments noted her “disrespectfully good” tone, which I’d have to agree with. She’s almost got a mix of Lainey Wilson’s deep drawl and Chris Stapleton’s deep soulful sound.
In the never-ending world where new TikTok artists seem to pop up every day, building fan bases straight from their bedrooms, I think this independent artist is one to keep an eye on. Hell, maybe she’ll even become the next female Blake Whiten, who’s been buzzing after he went from posting Morgan Wallen covers in his bedroom to opening for the Sneedville native over the past few weekends.
As for Abigail, her debut EP, Almost Over It, just recently turned a year old this past July as she prepares to release more music soon, including the highly teased “Tequila Talking” and “Be That Girl.” Check out her cover of “865” and some of her original music below.
