Well, this is certainly a first.
Just when you think you’ve heard it all, the Internet finds one more wild ‘rumor’ to tack onto Ella Langley’s incredibly standout year. Insanely enough, despite the fact that the 27-year-old hitmaker has had a record 2026, reaching new territories as a female country artist and beyond with her single “Choosin’ Texas,” there are still some people just now learning her name.
This seems to be the case for one TikToker who admitted he only recently came to know who Ella Langley is and hopped on the app to question her origins. He starts noting, “I’d just like to point out that nobody has ever seen her and Hawk Tuah girl at the same place, at the same time.”
The name instantly pulled a memory out of the back of my cranium that I had tried to repress since Hawk Tuah’s unescapable presence back in 2024. For those who have also forgotten the blast from the past (which was somehow only two years ago), the former internet sensation and podcast host, formerly known as Hailey Welch, gained quite a lot of attention after her interesting choice of words during an on-the-street interview in Nashville.
The TikToker continues to show his evidence, comparing side-by-side photos of Welch and the “Be Her” sensation. While I can kind of see where the similarities in their slim facial structures may reside, and maybe the Southern accents, I’m gonna have to put a strong veto on this statement.
In fact, I don’t ever wanna hear poor Ella’s name in the same sentence as ‘Hawk Tuah’ again. The Home Decor Homie, as he calls himself, does state he’s not trying to be “mean or funny” with this accusation; it’s just purely speculation.
He continues his case, claiming, “Nobody really knows what Hawk Tuah girl has been doing since Hawk Tuah coin, so it’s beyond reasonable that this [Ella] could be Hawk Tuah girl.” Setting the record straight (which I really shouldn’t even have to do), Hawk Tuah girl is mostly definitely not selling out arenas across the country with a brunette bang wig.
Following her December 2024 cryptocurrency scandal, during which her meme coin $HANK crashed within a day, despite the traumatizing investigation from the SEC and massive internet hate, Welch still seems to be doing well, letting her more toned-down personality shine on her social media. As for this insanely viral TikTok video, it’s since amassed a whopping 2 million views in just one day, and the comment section is littered with people eating up the goofy theory:
Unfortunately, many of those playing into the joke seem to come from the same corner of the internet that continues to question Langley’s success and ask, “Where did she come from?”
While her rise may seem sudden to some, Langley has been putting in the work for nearly a decade and, as of today, can officially add nine nominations at the 2026 CMA Awards to her resume. So no, she didn’t exactly pop out of the woodwork, and she certainly isn’t the Hawk Tuah girl testing out a new career path.
