Long live country music.
After being out on the west coast for the first four stops of his Leather Tour, Cody Johnson performed at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville back in February and gave fans more bang for their buck when he surprised the crowd by bringing out the most legendary duo in all of country music, Brooks & Dunn.
Although I would’ve expected a performance of “Red Dirt Road,” the song Cody Johnson helped breathe new life on from the duo’s 2019 album, “Reboot,” both acts decided to kick things up a notch and perform their collaboration from Cody’s latest, ninth studio album, “Leather.”
Before introducing Ronnie and Kix to the sold-out crowd of 20,000 people, Cody did what he always does best – hyped up real, authentic country music:
“There ain’t no tracks on my stage, just seven guys workin’ our a$$es off to play real country music up here for y’all tonight.
I’ve strived my whole career to try to keep country music alive because of these two men right here and the way they influenced me.”
Check out a couple clips of their performance, as well as the rest of Cody’s tour dates with Justin Moore and Dillon Carmichael, here:
