Not to be the Paul Revere of country music news, but something big is definitely coming.
Just this morning so far, Eric Church, Hardy, Tim Mcgraw and Morgan Wallen have all posted cryptic images with no caption to their Instagram accounts. The posts feature a male name believed to be a part of the alleged McArthur family, along with birth and death dates.
Eric Church’s post reads, “Junior McArthur b. September 2, 1945 d. April 4, 1967”, HARDY shared, “Jones McArthur b. June 5, 1968 d. January 5, 2025.” Tim McGraw posted, “John McArthur b. November 2, 1920 d. November 22, 1963,” and finally, Morgan Wallen added to his story, “Hunter McArthur May 13, 1993.”
So far, no concrete explanation for these mysterious posts has been elaborated on by any of the four artists, but it has certainly sent detective fans into a frenzy. The names seem to follow a lineage of men in this McArthur family, with the oldest being Eric Church’s pseudonym Junior, born in 1945, and the oldest Wallen’s namesake, Hunter McArther who would be 32 years old today.
Visually, the posts feature a rustic, weathered graphic with an old-timey font that is reminiscent of Eric Church’s aesthetic, which is more aligned with his Evangeline vs The Machine album theme. However, the obscure dates and the inclusion of multiple artists make this rollout feel different from past collaborative teases.
Equipped with some stellar history knowledge or quick ChatGPT skills, many have noted that these dates have significant ties to past events. Some have noted the end of World War II in 1945 and Kennedy’s death on November 22, 1963. Funny enough, Wallen’s namesake, “Hunter,” shares the same birthday as the singer himself.

Whatever this mystery project turns out to be, the involvement of Church, HARDY, and Wallen makes sense given their history of collaborations. Tim McGraw, however, feels like the wildcard in the lineup. Comment sections are buzzing with speculation, including rumors that this is merely a teaser ahead of a formal announcement expected on January 30. One fan claimed that Church told concertgoers this past week that “something is happening January 30th.”

While the anticipation continues to itch to see what kind of shenanigans these country fan favorites are up to, hopefully, it’ll be something worthwhile for all of the head-scratching.
