90’s country is so back.
Fresh off a brand new album and tour announcement, Midland took their current set of summer shows out to Taos, New Mexico along with none other than one of the hottest up-and-coming acts in all of country music, Zach Top.
Though their setlist contained hits such as “Drinkin’ Problem,” “Burn Out” and “Long Neck Way to Go,” the show-stopper came when the band called upon Top to perform a cover of Brooks & Dunn’s 1992 smash hit, “Boot Scootin’ Boogie.”
It should come as no surprise they played the song given that Midland themselves were featured on the track in Brooks & Dunn’s 2019 Reboot album and have been also been playing it throughout their tour this summer. However, the fact that they brought out Top to perform the classic song simply elevated their already stellar cover tenfold.
It seems like Zach Top is trying to singlehandedly bring back that 90s country sound that so many have fallen in love with over the past three decades, and this performance once again proves why he’s captured the ears of so many. The cover simply feels effortless for the “Sounds Like The Radio” singer with Midland’s band in support.
Between Top’s severely underrated guitar-playing, his songwriting and most famously, his classic, 90s country sound, there’s honestly no telling just how far he’s going to go over the next few years.
