Definitely not the response I was expecting.
Last Friday, Luke Bryan stopped by The Bobby Bones Show to discuss his new album, Mind Of A Country Boy, as well as Carrie Underwood joining him as a judge on American Idol. However, in true Luke Bryan fashion, things got a little off track.
Early in the interview, Bones asked Bryan about how he feels about artists canceling shows due to sickness. The “Do I” singer noted how he’d rather perform feeling under the weather rather than outright canceling a show. However, he said that he second-guesses going out to perform when he’s not feeling 100%, “God, I hate it because you’re always going to have people that are like, ‘How could you do this to us? We’ve been waiting. We flew in.’ But nothing is worse than being out there and not being able to sing.”
He then dropped one of the most out-of-pocket descriptors of just how much he hates performing while sick, “I would rather televise a vasectomy than do that right there.”
After some laughs, Bones followed up by asking Bryan what is his hardest song to sing. That song is none other than Bryan’s 2014 #1 hit, “Rollercoaster.”
The Georgia native pointed to the vocal run present on the chorus makes it hard to hit properly unless “everything’s clicking” Bryan said, “‘When you start the chorus… If it ain’t clicking, we’ve had to skip ‘Rollercoaster’ a couple times.”
