Dylan Gossett has taken the country world by storm over the past year. Between the release of his second EP, Songs in the Gravel, a spot on the highly successful Twisters soundtrack and an appearance on ESPN’s College Gameday at his alma mater, Texas A&M, the “Coal” singer has had quite a year.
Today, Gossett aims to keep the momentum with the release of the brand new song, “Tree Birds,” which was teased all the way back on August 7th on TikTok.
The Texas native took to Instagram on September 21st to announce the track’s release:
Discussing the track, Gossett noted how he wanted to capture his Texas Country roots,“‘Tree Birds’ is a song that we’ve been playing live at our shows for quite some time now. It has a lot of Texas Country roots. I went in and tracked it with the band to try to capture the energy of the live performances.”
It seems as if I say this every time I cover Gossett, but I’m going to say it once again. He is one of the most exciting voices in the genre today. He once again captures lighting in a bottle here on “Tree Birds.”
From the moment the song begins and the first note of when the harmonica plays, you’re immediately transported to a sunny day with the wind blowing through your hair. The way the harmonica, guitar and organ, a new instrument choice for Gossett, all blend together is something to behold, making “Tree Birds” feel like a shot of serotonin.
