Dolly Parton’s latest venture, a full-blown rest stop, deserves a road trip in and of itself.
The country music legend is officially set to launch her brand new Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stop on Wednesday, June 24, opening its doors to guests right in time for the busy Fourth of July week ahead. Located right off of exit 22 on I-65 in Cornersville, Tennessee, the multi-faceted travelers’ paradise sits smack dab in the middle of an hour radius from Nashville to Huntsville.
In true Dolly fashion, the grand service plaza is more than just a stop on the highway, giving people a little taste of home on the road. For fans of the mega-rest stop franchise, Buc-ee’s, imagine that sort of ambiance mixed with a little “9-5” flair.
Upon being greeted by an original mural and a Dolly-inspired tour bus photo opp, travelers can enjoy the endless exploration of the rest areas’ general store filled with custom merch, classic southern DLY BBQ, and even re-energize with a steaming Cup of Ambition Coffee.
For those looking to spend a little more time relaxing, there will also be a full sit-in restaurant & cafe along with an upstairs lounge, and a back patio. Given that it is a rest stop, there are also the necessities, including both car and trucker fuel zones, a trucker’s lounge, and EV charging stations. And of course, traveling furry friends will also be welcome at the Doggy Parton Dog Park.
With the grand opening less than a month away, the first-of-its-kind travel center is already looking to kick off its outdoor stage by scouting for some special local Tennessee talent to perform in the coming weeks. While Dolly has announced she’s currently stepping away from performances as she recovers from some health complications, who knows Billboard’s Greatest Country Singer of All Time has been known to make public appearances at these sorts of events.
This is also just the start for the 80-year-old singer’s latest expansion, according to a press release, “the travel stop is the first of many planned locations, born from the partnership between global superstar Dolly Parton, her manager Danny Nozell, and Gregory H. Sachs, who has owned and operated the trusted Tennessean Travel Stop brand since 2017.”
Drawing from her time spent touring out on the open road and her childhood growing up in the hills of East Tennessee, “the venture reimagines what a roadside stop can be.” The midweek celebration is bound to kick things off with a bang, bringing all of the glitz and glam to Cornersville with more information to be revealed about the festivities in the coming weeks.
