I feel like once people start caring about seeing your outfits encased in glass boxes, you’ve officially reached icon status.
Insanely, for Ella Langley, who’s only been in the game for about five years since the release of her debut single, her clothing is already being shipped off to be on display at the Country Music Hall of Fame. Now, sure, the fact that Langley has made music history by becoming the longest-leading female single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart (not including holiday songs), surpassing both Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey, might be more of a star-power indicator.
However, I think it’s still pretty d*mn cool to be able to say that you’re big enough that your closet deserves to be showcased. The “Choosin’ Texas” singer’s customized suit jacket and pants that she wore back in February 2023 at her Grand Ole Opry debut are officially being welcomed into the hall of fame’s exhibit: “Country’s Grandest Stage: The Opry at 100.”
Open to the public to visit throughout March 31, 2027, the section is filled with pieces of history celebrating the iconic stage and radio show’s 100th anniversary. One of the newer pieces featured is Langley’s three-year-old jacket, which has her last name embroidered with beading on the back, inspired by her grandmother’s handwriting.
The outfit is currently on loan from Langley, who I’m sure will want to keep the memento from the start of her career for many years to come. At her debut show, the Alabama native was introduced by mentor Jamey Johnson before stepping into the legendary Opry circle and performing her 2022 single, “Hey Ma I Made It.”
For newer Langley fans who’ve just hopped on the Dandelion train, the song is truly a lost gem from her discography that’s a heartfelt letter to her mama, noting her journey to Nashville. Imagine the tears that were shed when Langley performed the track last during her debut, with her Mom actually in the crowd.
The jacket is not only a marker of one of the biggest moments in any country music singer’s career, but looking back at the photos of the then 24-year-old wearing her black matching suit, it’s a completely different Langley as well. Matter of fact, she had yet to cut her signature bangs; she still had caramel highlights and a bit of a baby face that I’m sure would spur the inevitable comments of people claiming, “That’s not her, it doesn’t even look like her.” I promise, guys, it’s her.
If you’re in the Nashville area or happen to take a trip to the museum, tickets are currently on sale on the CMHOF website to visit the display along with American Currents: State of the Music, which also features Langley’s 2025 ACM Awards gown and the blue cheetah print dress she wore on last year’s Still Hungover Tour.
As for those hoping to see Langley continue to make history live on her 2026 Dandelion tour, she’ll return to the stage tonight, July 31, in Canandaigua, NY.
