Before absolutely mesmerizing her hometown crowd at Neville Arena a couple of weeks ago, country music’s current hottest superstar, Ella Langley, gave a glimpse into the wholesome pre-show ritual she did backstage to lead into the night.
The 27-year-old Alabama native has continued to captivate fans with her undeniably catchy songs (especially the recently crowned Billboard song of the summer “Choosin’ Texas”), her refreshing personality, and, for many, her deeply rooted faith. Over the past year, Langley has been far from shy about sharing how her relationship with God has strengthened both her career and confidence, whether through heartfelt speeches onstage or candid posts on social media.
For those who think the Bible-toting messages are just some sort of gimmick, Langley’s faith goes far beyond a piece of her easily likable charisma or celebrity persona. Yesterday evening, the “Dandelion” singer shared a recap video of her night one show at the sold-out Auburn Arena, which started out backstage, with her team huddled for a prayer.
Before hitting the stage with an incredible 25-song setlist, Langley led her crew and bandmates in a prayer circle, giving grace to the Lord for guiding her and watching over the August 28 show. She admirably started out:
Thank you for another beautiful day. I’m so grateful to be here today, I started this journey 10 year ago in almost this exact same place and it is insane to see what you have built and the goodness you have brought through just following your dream Lord
Interestingly, rather than taking all the credit for achieving her dream, it’s endearing to see Langley give the glory to God for placing that passion on her heart and helping her watch those dreams come to fruition. The rest of her team looked equally immersed in the backstage huddle, circled around Langley, with their heads bowed and some joining hands.
She also then followed up the prayer with another backstage bonding experience, taking at least one rowdy shot with the team to really get fired up. Now that’s what I call balance.
Langley has had nearly two weeks off to recuperate and reset before returning to the stage tomorrow night, September 10, in Newark, New Jersey (which I’m still kicking sand over not having tickets for). She’ll round out the weekend with two more shows including a Friday night concert in State College, PA followed by Saturday’s show in Charleston, WV.
