After the announcement of the Country Music Association (CMA) Awards nominees two weeks ago, many have been weighing in on their picks for the highly coveted Entertainer of the Year nominations. From Bobby Bones saying that it should come down to Zach Bryan (who wasn’t nominated), Morgan Wallen and Luke Combs, to Luke Bryan showing favor to Morgan Wallen due to his record-breaking One Night At A Time tour, many have been giving their two cents on who should win the proverbial MVP award at the CMAs.
As a reminder, the nominees include the following:
- Luke Combs
- Jelly Roll
- Chris Stapleton
- Morgan Wallen
- Lainey Wilson
Today, reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year winner, Lainey Wilson, gave her opinion on who should win the award on the Taste of Country Nights podcast, hosted by Evan Paul.
During the interview, Wilson reflected on her win last year, saying, “I’ve worked my butt off this year to prove to the folks that thought I didn’t deserve Entertainer of the Year, to show them why the people in this town chose me. So, if it don’t happen, that’s alright. There’s so many people in this town that deserve to win all of these awards who have never even been nominated.”
She was then asked who she thought should win Entertainer of the Year if she didn’t. Her answer might surprise you, “I mean, Jelly Roll a hundred percent.”
Wilson would also point to Morgan Wallen, who has broken a plethora of records over the past year, as a front-runner quickly after making her main pick of Jelly Roll.
She also noted how she thought Miranda Lambert deserved it despite not being nominated, “Even Miranda [Lambert] for CMAs. There’s so many people, and it had been a long time since a girl had won Entertainer of the Year for CMAS, and it’s crazy to think about that. That should not be the case.”
The CMA Awards will air live on ABC at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee at 7 p.m. CT on November 20.
