Welp…this is certainly a first.
As he continues on his new music hot streak, releasing seven new tracks in just seven weeks ahead of the release of his October 2 album, Gavin Adcock also looks like he’s been having plenty of fun on the road during his coinciding The Day I Hang It Up Tour. And I’ve gotta say, the Georgia natives’ ongoing tradition of inviting his tiny Adcockers on stage has been pretty d*mn entertaining.
Usually you’ll find these tiny tots dancing and singing along with him on stage— and maybe occasionally throwing up a middle finger or calling out Zach Bryan. But truly, only at a Gavin Adcock concert would you find a young fan making a bet that she can lick her own eyeball in exchange for an autograph.
Yup, that is in fact a very real statement. A little girl at the “Need To” singer’s Thursday night, September 17 show in Lubbock, Texas, ended up catching Adcock’s eye with a bright red and pink poster board sign that read: “I bet an autograph I can lick my eyeball.”
Lo and behold, up comes running onto the Cook’s Garage stage little Miss Emily, who greeted Adcock in out-of-breath excitement. Shaking her hands nervously, Adcock pulled her in for a side hug before she pulled through on her half of the bet.
To clarify, I fully expected her to stick out some freakishly long tongue and somehow stretch it up to her eyeball— I’m pretty sure I knew a few kids in second grade who could pull off that party trick. But nope, instead she completely full-sent the bit, reaching into her eye socket, pulling out her prosthetic eye with two fingers and bringing it straight to her tongue for a full-on lick.
As I’m rewatching this for the millionth time, I’m half in stellar awe and half trying to suppress all the germaphobic thoughts about how many concert germs are probably now floating around in her eye. Talk about a true souvenir.
Equally shocked by the interaction, Adcock let out a loud, “Oh Hell!” as Emily swiftly popped her prosthetic eyeball back into its spot. The rest of the crowd erupted in cheers as Adcock high-fived the little bad*ss.
While the video clip from Emily’s mom on TikTok, @TalkBrittToMe doesn’t show Adcock holding up his end of the bargain with an autograph, I’m sure he more than pulled through after the fact. She also shared that the moment was one her daughter will never forget (because how could you forget something like that), adding that she was fighting back happy tears on the drive home.

As for Adcock, who’s now just two weeks away from his The Day I Hang It Up album release, he’ll return to the stage tomorrow night, September 19, in Round Rock, Texas, as he continues out the remainder of his fall dates, wrapping up on November 14 in Grand Rapids, MI.
