Let it be known that it would take a lot for me to bet $100 on just about anything.
In this economy, I’d have to be pretty d*mn sure I was gonna win before putting a Benjamin on the table. That being said, if the bet involved whether a massive artist like Luke Bryan would somehow spot me among thousands of fans and invite me onstage to sing a song… I don’t think I’d be putting $100 on my chances.
I guess some people have a little more faith than I do, though, hence why a young concertgoer at Bryan’s recent Tampa, Florida, show last Thursday, September 10, quite literally did bet his buddy $100 that he could get onstage with the “Knockin’ Boots” singer. And sure enough, lucky Mr. Colton Jackson, a recent high school graduate, charmed Bryan enough to let him hop up for a duet at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre.
Standing side by side with the 30+ No.1s hit-maker, Bryan questioned Colton to show off his homemade sign, which quite plainly read on white posterboard in big black handwriting: “Let Me Sign Rain Is A Good Thing With You.” Bryan, impressed by his tenacity, I guess, caved and let him up on stage, sharing with everyone, “He’s been holding this d*mn sign up all night.”
Colton then lets everyone in on his scheme, noting that he made a bet with his friend that he “couldn’t get on stage.” As for the friend, he wasn’t even at the concert with Colton; he was in Portugal. Bryan hilariously questioned, “You made a bet with a dude in Portugal? You’re a d*mn idiot.”
Still, Bryan continued asking if the fan wanted to sing along with his 2009 party hit, to which he seemed pretty indifferent about the choice. In true sassy dad humor fashion, Bryan quipped back, “Well, what’s your f*ckin’ sign say? You bothered me all night with your sign…ready?”
Colton took the goofy attitude like a champ, and without hesitation, he was ready to give the show of a lifetime for his Florida fans by helping Bryan kick off the bridge. He proceeded to take the lead on the song, hype as could be, with the crowd and Bryan both cheering him on.
Oh, and of course it wouldn’t be a true booty-shaking-Luke-Bryan bash without his signature hip roll that Colton very willingly joined in on. Reminiscing on the moment, he left a simple comment on the now-viral TikTok clip of the interaction, saying, “unreal.”
While I’m sure his winning prize money will be gone in a flash, there’s no doubt this is a story I’m sure he’ll laugh about with his friends for decades. As for Bryan, he’s also got an exciting week ahead with the release of his ninth studio album, Signs, inbound this Friday, September 18.
