Megan Moroney has had a MASSIVE start to her young career.
The 26 year-old rising superstar released her debut album, Lucky, back in May of this year, and it was just recently crowned the best country/americana album of 2023 by Rolling Stone.
Earning that type of recognition for your first-ever record is not only impressive, but almost unheard of. It’s especially flattering considering their staff put her at #1 alongside artists such as Turnpike Troubadours, Chris Stapleton, Tyler Childers, Jelly Roll and more.
Her college football-themed love story,Tennessee Orange, went absolutely viral last year, helping Moroney to sign a record deal with Sony Music Nashville/Columbia. The song also went on to become her first ever RIAA certified platinum single, as well as her first #1 at country radio.
It appears Megan is showing no sign of slowing down any time soon, as she took to Instagram today to share a clip of a new unreleased, heartbreak track, “28th of June,” as well as adding that she recently wrote a total of four brand new songs….in just one day:
She also commented on the post, providing fans with an exciting update: “almost done writing my second record.“
28th of June features Megan at her most vulnerable. Reminiscing on a past relationship, Megan recalls the romantic evening the couple shared on that day exactly one year ago, seemingly referring to what would’ve been their anniversary.
“Time kept tickin’ and you moved on, another 365 have come and gone/ Today would’ve been a day that we’d celebrate, now its just another Tuesday.”
Although fans are already begging for her to release it in the comments, waiting until the 28th of…well, June, would be a fitting release date. Check it out here:
