Man, why couldn’t one of my siblings have turned out to be a multi-hit-making, chart-topping superstar?
Preparing to wrap up his final stop on tour tonight, July 31, in Philadelphia, Morgan Wallen’s historic shows this past weekend at the Big House in Michigan were quite the family affair. For those who don’t know, the Sneedville native is actually the oldest of four, taking on the big brother role to three younger sisters.
The oldest of the girls, Ashlyne, whose vocals you might also recognize in the background of his 2023 track, “Outlook,” recently shared a recap of the Wallen family’s trip to see Morgan’s show. On night one this past Friday, July 24, Ashlyne, her two children, their youngest sister Lacey, along with Mama Wallen and his pastor father, Tommy, all watched the stage down below from a box seat.
In her post, the proud sister shared a few concert selfies along with a group family photo, the absolutely jam-packed crowd, and everyone enjoying opener Thomas Rhett’s set. Just like every other fan in attendance, she also captured her big brother’s iconic “Broadway Girls” walkout and performance of “Love Somebody.”
Arguably the best part of her photo dump, though, is watching Wallen’s parents proudly watch their son’s show, including the sweetest clip of his mom, Lesli, videoing and zooming in on his performance of “This Bar.” Fans in the comment section couldn’t help but voice how insane the moment had to be for his momma:
Even Ashlyne noted how heartwarming the moment was, captioning the last clip in her post of her mom: “The pinch to zoom, and everyone singing along” with a bunch of emojis that are probably a little better at conveying how touched she was.
Maybe it’s just the nostalgia of hearing “This Bar” or the fact that I only got three hours of sleep, but even I had to hold back a few tears seeing Tommy and Lesli watch over their thirty-three-year-old baby boy. With that being said, if the Wallen family is looking for a new box-seat addition to jam out with them at the next concert, I’m available for adoption.
Time will tell when Wallen will return to the stage again after his final Still The Problem show this Saturday, August 1, as he prepares to release new music following his most recent drop last Friday, “Been By Now.”
