If there’s one rising independent country artist who should be on your radar, it is Brennan Edwards. He first broke onto the scene with Til The End of My Days, the title track of his debut EP. The song and the EP in its entirety are exceptionally well-rounded and well-polished, showcasing his strengths as an artist. His songwriting is off-the-charts, creating strong imagery and introspective lyrics throughout.
Today, Edwards is back with a brand-new song, Until I Bleed. Much like his first EP, Until I Bleed is another stunner from the Virginian singer/songwriter.
Appalachia Untold, who have collaborated with Colby Acuff, Brad Paisley and Jake Kohn, first posted the song on their YouTube channel on July 19. The video was wildly successful, becoming their second most viewed video with over 196,000 views as of today.
Ultimately, Until I Bleed is exactly what you’d expect from Edwards in the best way possible. Much like Til the End of My Days, the track feels particularly reverent and poetic. In a very Tyler Childers-esque fashion, the Virginian artist laments the fact that he feels like he doesn’t deserve the love he receives from his partner.
“Oh, but lately it just feels
I don’t deserve to have your hand
Holding mine and trying to keep me
On my feet when I can’t stand”
Lyrics like these, coupled with Edward’s brilliant flatpicking on guitar, make Until I Bleed an absolute must-listen for anyone looking for raw, acoustic storytelling found in songs from Zach Bryan, Charles Wesley Godwin and the aforementioned Tyler Childers.
