    It’s finally here.

Back on Jan. 22, Muscadine Bloodline took to Instagram to tease a brand-new song with a mystery feature with the caption reading, “On Feb 2nd, / Crank up the speakers. / A new song coming, / But, who is the feature???”

The outline of the mystery artist instantly had fans debating whether it was Koe Wetzel, Kolby Cooper, Warren Zeiders or even Drayton Farley.

The duo, who have been on a hot streak ever since the release of Teenage Dixie back in 2023, kept the fans guessing with multiple Instagram posts over the following days before officially revealing that it was, in fact, Drayton Farley who would be joining them on a cover of A Day to Remember’s 2009 hit, Have Faith In Me.

They added in a following Instagram post that it was Farley who suggested that the trio cover A Day to Remember: “After we put out “Teenage Angst” he told us whenever we were ready to do A Day to Remember cover, he’d be waiting!“

In the Instagram post officially announcing the song’s release, the Muscadine said:

“We both learned how to sing harmony to songs like this and @adtr [A Day to Remember] was a coming [common] bond we both shared over our “Teenage Angst” years.

There seems to be a commonality in the emo music of the 2000’s and what today’s sad country song consist of. Some argue that the emo era was unintentionally taking from the emotions of an old Jones or Whitley song. Funny how sounds and ideas in music of the past weave their way into music of today.“

It’s hard not to see the comparisons of Have Faith In Me and today’s sad country songs as the duo said. It’s evident that the slowed-down, stripped-back version of the song bears an undeniable similarity to something that you’d hear in today’s alt/indie country scene today.

Ironically, the country and ADTR connection started earlier than this cover. Back in 2023, the band’s lead singer, Jeremy McKinnon, appeared on HARDY’s RADIO SONG, which was featured on The Mockingbird & the Crow.

This cover should come as no surprise given that the duo released a four-song EP, Teenage Angst, which featured other covers of pop-punk classics such as Jamie All Over by Mayday Parade and Only One by Yellowcard, appearing on their breakout 2003 album, Ocean Avenue.

While reflecting on the cover of Have Faith In Me and Teenage Angst, the boys said:

“We’ve gotten all we ever wanted out of music and 2023 was the year to not make music with ambitious intent.

Finally we put out a record in Teenage Dixie that felt like the end of a 7 year journey of finding “our thing”. Then, the Teenage Angst EP was just the product of having fun. That’s how we’ve approached writing this new record we got coming this year…… “Is it our thing? and is it fun?” and then we proceeded to mess around and write and recorded the best record we’ve ever made.”

Does that mean that you can expect even more punk covers from the Porch Swing Angel singers? I hope. It seems like these pop-punk endeavors are incredibly enjoyable for the duo to perform and super nostalgic for fans who grew up listening to them, and if they sound as good as the last five have, why not release more?
