Looks like there are no plans for a reunion any time soon.
Over the last couple of days, Brian Kelley (one half of Florida Georgia Line), has been posting teasers of an upcoming song to social media, titled “Kiss My Boots,” where he admits he has some “truth to share” and if you follow closely, it’s pretty obvious who it’s aimed at.
The first post was shared two days ago, with Kelley doing a short voiceover on an Instagram reel of him out in the woods:
“I’ve been quiet, and I took the high road. The truth is, I have a deep wound. After crankin’ some Hank, drinkin’ some Jack, I have some truth to share.”
The self-proclaimed “beach cowboy” captioned the post with, “Volume up. Airin’ out the past,” and even fellow country artist, Jake Owen, commented with four popcorn emojis.
Brian then shared two additional posts, featuring teaser clips of the upcoming song, and a lengthy caption that added more fuel to the fire:
“My mental health coach told me a couple years ago as I was navigating through an extremely difficult, hurtful, and confusing time, “the person with the highest emotional intelligence has the highest responsibility.” So as hard as it was in those moments to take the high road, I took her advice and I sat back and “ate my popcorn.
Everyone processes differently. I went inward. And it all came out in a song. Now it’s time for y’all to get your popcorn. ”Kiss My Boots” available next Wednesday, March 6th.”
As many are probably already aware, the duo broke up in 2022 after open political disagreements. Is there more to the story that the public is unaware of? Probably, and it looks like Kelley’s new song may shed a little more light on his side of the story.
What makes it more obvious that it’s aimed toward his former bandmate are the lyrics shared in the short teaser video clip:
“You been throwin’ dirt on my name ’round this town like it ain’t small, like your friends ain’t my friends and I wouldn’t end up hearin’ it all”
He continues…
“I fell on the sword but only the good Lord knows the hell that you put me through, sober me would never tell but tonight I’m on that Tennessee truth.”
Considering Brian is happily married, and his wife even commented that she’s “proud” of him, this ain’t about relationship problems. (Well, with a girl anyway).
“Kiss My Boots” officially drops on all music platforms next Friday, March 6th. It is currently available for pre-save.
