Country music is so back.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock the past six months, you’re probably well aware that Zach Top is next-up in the genre. Between his severely underrated guitar-playing, his songwriting and most famously, his classic, 90s country sound, Top is without a doubt one of the most exciting new artists in country music.
The Washington native made his CMA Fest debut last weekend, performing a full band set on the Chevy Vibes Stage in the afternoon before delivering a knockout, acoustic performance on the Nissan Stadium Platform Stage right before Brothers Osborne took the main stage during the final night of the festival.
The short, 10 minute set included an absolutely jaw-dropping performance of “Use Me,” which appears on his debut album, Cold Beer & Country Music. It’s rare to see a live, acoustic that tops an already phenomenal studio version, but Top very well might have done it during this performance.
It’s also rare to see a side stage act command the attention of a festival crowd the way that Top is during this performance, but that’s exactly what you’d come to expect from an artist as good as him. He simply draws you into each and every song, and this performance of “Use Me” showcases this in the clearest way possible.
