Rascal Flatts is making their highly anticipated comeback in 2025, proving once again that life truly is a highway. Drawing some inspiration from Brooks & Dunn, the band is re-entering the scene with a rerelease collaboration album, Life is a Highway: Refueled Duets.
This insanely jam-packed project, set to release June 6, features a blend of artists from various genres. After their recent collaboration with the Jonas Brothers on “I Dare You,” Rascal Flatts is bringing us nine more collaborations on classic hits. The album celebrates the band’s 25-year catalog of songs, including duets such as Fast Cars and Freedom with Jason Aldean, Mayberry with Blake Shelton, Summer Nights with Ashley Cooke, and My Wish with Carly Pearce. The album will also feature a country-Christian collaboration on Stand, with Brandon Lake, who recently released the impactful hit Hard Fought Hallelujah with Jelly Roll.
One of the most exciting full circle moments on the album is an unexpexcted but kismet collaboration with the Backstreet Boys on What Hurts The Most. Originally written and pitched to the Backstreet Boys’ label, Jive Records, in the early 2000s, the song was ultimately turned down. Luckily for country fans, this led to the Rascal Flatts releasing it in 2006 on their Me and My Gang album. Now, fans will finally get to hear what could have been in this long-awaited early 2000s collaboration.
Another standout on the album is a remastered version of I’m Movin’ On, the fourth single from Rascal Flatts’ 2001 debut album, featuring Kelly Clarkson. Known for turning any song into an unforgettable experience, Clarkson’s addition to this classic track is sure to make it even more special.

The band first teased the upcoming project on their Instagram on March 5, posting a question to fans: “Who Should We Collab With?”. They then followed it up with a video showing fan guesses of potential collaborators. A few names that popped up in the video lit up in blue, serving as a subtle Easter egg to hint at the artists actually featured on the album.
Lead Singer Gary LeVox shared his thoughts on the album saying, “It was such an honor to create this project with such incredibly talented artists, it’s a pretty indescribable feeling having your colleagues and friends do your songs in such unique ways and knock your socks off with the results.”
Gearing up to the release date, Rascal Flatts is currently out on their Life is A Highway Tour, which runs until April 5 and ends in Jacksonville, Florida.
