It’s been almost two weeks since Carly Pearce and Riley Green steamed up everyone’s feeds with a teaser for their upcoming collaboration.
Amidst the never-ending messy love triangle between Green, Megan Moroney, and Ella Langley, the leading man found himself carressing a new lady in country music. Pearce completely wiped her Instagram ahead of this project and teased new music with a lingerie shot and a sultry behind-the-scenes sneak peek from a music video.
The internet was shocked to find out that the man behind the slow hand was none other than the “Worst Way” singer himself. Getting very cozy in the promo shot, the two announced their upcoming single, “If I Don’t Leave I’m Gonna Stay,” set to release this Friday, March 13.
Ahead of its official drop, the duo gave their first live look at the track during an intimate show, posted in a clip by 95.5 The Bull. Pearce, who’s joined Green in the past on stage, filling in for Langley as Green’s duet partner on “Don’t Mind If I Do,” noted that their chemistry was one of the driving forces behind this song. She told the audience, “I’ve gotten to sing with this next person several times over the last few years, and I just felt that connection that I always look for when I’m thinking about a collaborator.”
From this short clip of the song so far, the song appears to capture a push-and-pull dynamic in a complicated relationship, reminiscent of Chris Stapleton’s “You Should Probably Leave.” As the two voices harmonize, the track doesn’t sound quite as heated as the early teasers suggested, but it still leans into suggestive tension with lines like: “We’re getting close to losing clothes, I should go look at the time, it’s getting late, if I don’t leave I’m gonna stay.”
The track marks Pearce’s second release so far in 2026, following January’s religious guilt anthem “Church Girl,” as she continues to allude to a full project to come this year. It’ll also be Green’s first step into new music before he heads out onto his summer 2026 Cowboy As It Gets Tour beginning on April 16 in Southaven, Mississippi. Joined by Justin Moore, Mackenzie Carpenter, Zach John King, Drake White, Hannah McFarland, and Adam Hood, the dates will round out on August 22 in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
