Taking the hot seat as television’s latest country music star turned singing competition judge, Riley Green has just announced he’ll be joining this upcoming season of The Voice.
The announcement comes as pretty much a no-brainer following the NBC series’ string of teasers hinting at the potential new cowboy hat-wearing addition. Following the announcement that both Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine would be returning once more for season 30, the show hinted on their social media that their third judge was inbound, saying, “Something’s brewin’… and it sounds pretty country.”
With one picture featuring a camouflage chair and a duck flying in the distance, followed by another giant mustache riding on the back of the judges’ seat, fans were quick to call out Green as the mystery celebrity. Sure enough, continuing his string of television appearances, the Alabama native will be transitioning from his recent role as ‘Garrett’ on Marshals to ‘Coach Riley.’ He took to social media tonight to confirm, “I guess y’all can start calling me coach… see ya this fall.”
Following in the footsteps of the show’s long-running main country singing star, Blake Shelton, Green’s bound to be met with a lot of excited faces this season, considering the show has seen a heavy influx of country singers this past season. He received the news from none other than Clarkson, who welcomed him with open arms to the panel (and also noted she was “stoked” as a super fan who’s covered his songs a few times), but of course, given it’s a competition, she was still sure to let him know, “Team Kelly’s gonna whoop that A**.”
Clarkson also sent over a hefty inauguration gift, a full replica of the show’s iconic red spinning chair decked out with Riley’s name on the back.

While this may be the first time Green steps into the judging role, he has appeared on The Voice before, joining the show two seasons ago at its season 28 finale in December 2025 with a performance of his hit “Jesus Saves.” This fall’s milestone 30th season is also bound to be an exciting one, with it returning to its standard four-coach layout and its final coach still to be announced.
Green is bound to have a busy summer, fitting in filming in the upcoming months while continuing on his 2026 Cowboy As It Gets tour. Typically following the precedent of previous years, the show will air sometime in late September, but no official premiere date has been confirmed yet.
