Miranda Lambert brought out all the stops at her show last night, August 11, at the iconic Full Throttle Saloon.
The Texas “Gunpowder & Lead” singer headlined Tuesday night’s show, a part of the 86th annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, bringing her 20+ years of career hits to the South Dakota stage. While Lambert has some rowdy show stoppers of her own, it was only fitting that she bring out the queen of female bar anthems, Miss Gretchen Wilson.
Oh, and to really top things off, the Grammy award-winning bell-bottom rockin’ and fellow country icon, Lainey Wilson, joined the stage— talk about Wilson double trouble. During the night, Lambert also brought out her Louisiana duet partner for their collaboration, “Good Horses.” Her longtime background vocalist, Gwen Sebastian, also hopped up with the ladies on the 2004 hit.
Wilson took the lead on the performance of her debut single, with the girls joining in on the karaoke classic. She even threw in a few shout-outs to her stage partners, changing the lyrics to, “I know all the words to every Lainey Wilson song.”
Safe to say the bike week crowd was feeling the high-energy performance, proudly giving the ladies their well-deserved “H*ll Yeahs.” Lambert and Wilson also warmed up the crowd beforehand with another staple from Wilson’s debut album, “When It Rains.”
Luckily for those of you like me who’ve been loving Ella Langley’s recently released duet from that same album, “Here For The Party,” Wilson has many more similar duets to come, reviving the 2004 project’s career-defining tracks. Lambert herself will make an appearance on the rerecordings, along with appearances from Travis Tritt, Cody Johnson, Tanya Tucker, and more.
As for Lambert, she’s a little less than two months away from the release of her 10th studio album, Crisco, on October 2, which she’ll celebrate at her album release party on the 6th at Billy Bob’s. And given Lambert’s track record, the exclusive hometown concert is bound to be filled with more surprises.
