It’s statistically proven that you can’t go wrong with a Chris Stapleton and Lainey Wilson collab.
But then again, you truly can’t go wrong with Chris Stapleton added to anything. Luckily for fans of the two leading country music stars’ duets, the Louisiana native has been a frequent supporting act on Stapleton’s 2026 All American Road Show tour, meaning there’s been plenty of ’em.
This past weekend, Stapleton headed out on one of his last few stops for the summer, headlining at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. And as they say, when in Rome (Georgia, that is), you’ve gotta pay homage to the Peach State with at least one state-themed anthem.
It’s no secret that Stapleton does one h*ll of a job covering the iconic hit, “Georgia On My Mind” but this time around, he decided to bring out Wilson for a curveball cover of the groovy 1986 Southern rock hit, “Keep Your Hands To Yourself” by the Atlanta-born band, The Georgia Satellites. The track from their self-titled debut album is one of those songs that you might not know right off the bat based off the title but once you hear the opening line you immediately know the classic hit: “I’ve got a little change in my pocket, going ‘jing-a-ling-a-ling.'”
Quite a few country artists have put their own spin on the track during live performances in the past including Garth Brooks and more recently rising artist Tucker Wetmore.
As for Wilson and Stapleton’s take, there’s no denying their soulful voices were made for this heater with Stapleton ripping on the guitar and the electric keyboard accompanying them in the back. Before leading into the performance Stapleton alerted the crowd, “We’ll take it back to the bar room a little bit and have a little bit more fun if it’s alright?”
Something about these two jamming out to the late ’80s tune feels perfectly modern while still sounding like it could’ve come straight out of the era. Stapleton also happened to extend an invite to the stage to his second opener, miss Ashley McBryde who joined him mid-show for another ’80s mashup of Phil Collins’ “In The Air Tonight” with Hank Williams Jr.’s “All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight.”
