Welcome to day number 6,429 of asking people to stop throwing random objects on stage.
It truly feels like this year has been one endless cycle of fans throwing things at their favorite artists in hopes of getting a reaction… only for the plan to go terribly wrong. While there is the rare occasion that the performers end up picking the item and playing along (ie., Riley Green and his collection of bras), for the most part, it’s just an all-around bad and unsafe idea.
Hence why country music’s reigning superstar of 2026, Ella Langley, almost experienced a nasty fall last night if it weren’t for the help of her guitarist. During her Thursday night, September 24, sold-out show at the Food City Center, one fan in the front row of the Knoxville crowd decided to sling their hat onto the stage.
It seems that after attempting to wave it in the air a few times and not receiving Langley’s attention, the man instead threw it at her white boots, landing on the stage behind her. At first, the Alabama native brushed it off, with her lead guitarist, Ben Flanders, kindly rushing up behind her to grab the hat.
Of course, at that very moment, Langley stepped to the side, tripping into her bandmate, but he caught both her and the merch item flawlessly. As he whips it back into the crowd and Langley spins around him, laughing off the near-butt-busting incident, you can see the man getting reprimanded in the crowd below.
The TikToker behind the now-viral concert clip affirmed in the video’s caption: “He was kicked out.” Props to Langley, who barely even skipped a beat during the whole off-pointing situation, and especially to Flanders, who deserves an award for his flawless catch of country music’s current princess.
Hopefully the incident will serve as a good warning for Langley’s remaining concerts this weekend as she prepares to head out to Columbus, Ohio tonight (Sept. 25) and Moline, Illinois tomorrow night (Sept. 26). And with just ten stops left, the end of the Dandelion tour is quickly approaching, wrapping up on Halloween (Oct. 31) in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
