In a shocking turn of events for Aerosmith fans, the iconic rock band returned to the stage last night in Los Angeles, two years after they were forced to cancel their farewell tour after lead singer Steven Tyler suffered severe vocal injuries.
Back in August 2024, the “Dream On” rockers were meant to hit the road on their Peace Out tour, but it was ultimately shut down due to Tyler suffering from a fractured larynx. Nonetheless, fast forward to yesterday evening and the full lineup, including Tyler, Joe Perry, Brad Whitford, Tom Hamilton, and drummer Joey Kramer, decided to get the gang back together one more time for two shows at the Hollywood Bowl for an epic showcase of California, Dream On: Aerosmith & Friends.
Featuring a star-studded lineup including Guns N’ Roses, The Black Crowes, Run-DMC, Sammy Hagar, and even Johnny Depp, last night (October 29), they kicked off the epic reunion— and not without a little representation from country music as well. Joining the stage throughout the night was none other than Mr. Misunderstood himself, Eric Church.
Church delivered two guest performances throughout the show, singing Aerosmith’s 1987 single, “Rag Doll,” and their iconic 1998 ballad, “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing.” Before leading into the latter song, he announced to the crowd, “I know I’m a country music guy, but as a child of the ’80s they were the soundtrack of my life, so it’s an honor to be here.”
He then delivered a rendition that’ll have you wanting to passionately lip-sync right alongside him. And don’t worry, I’m also suffering from some serious FOMO knowing I wasn’t in LA last night to witness it firsthand.
Of course, Church isn’t the first country artist to put his own spin on the iconic track. For those who grew up listening to ’90s country radio, you might remember Mark Chesnutt releasing his own rendition back in 1999.
As for Aerosmith, they’ll return to the stage for another unforgettable night this Sunday, November 1 with a varying lineup of artists but I have a feeling this time around previously announced performer Marcus King will bring the house down with his very own renditions.
